Because of our authentic attachment to these principles and our ability to form long-lasting relationships, JJB has grown into metro Detroit’s most trusted and preferred full-service civil contractor. We’re involved with a diverse number of projects nationwide, which include several electrical substations, building foundations, parking structures, general site work and underground infrastructures. Many major companies have entrusted us with some of their most challenging and labor-intensive jobs, including ITC Transmission Co., DTE Energy, Ferndale Electric, MIG Construction and Ford Motor Company.

Pat started with the company in 1978, joining his Grandfather J.J, his father and two uncles. After leaving for a short stint, Pat later became 100% owner and President of JJB in early 2000. Pat is responsible for the overall direction and vision of the company, ensuring each employee is fueled by a strong attachment to JJB’s core values and commitment to exceeding client expectations. He also holds the titles of chief estimator, and leader of sales and marketing. Patrick is a man of many talents.
In addition to JJB, Pat held various positions within the construction industry from Estimator to Vice President of Construction. His experience ranges from operations and estimating to marketing initiatives.
General Manager for Michigan
Prior to starting at JJB in 2000, Dave worked alongside of President and Owner Patrick Barney since 1993. From running administrative functions, handling bidding and operations, David slowly gave up day-to-day functions and evolved into a leadership role. David is now responsible for overall operations, overseeing office functions and project management.
David received a Bachelor of Science from Northern Michigan University in Construction Technologies and Management.
General Manager for Florida
Jim is a seasoned professional with 44 years’ experience as a contracting professional. Leaving Michigan to lead JJB’s Florida office, Jim is embracing the warmer weather while he is in charge of project management and business development. From scheduling labor to managing budgets, Jim has a knack for the finer details and delivering great work.
Prior to JJB, Jim held numerous positions as a senior project manager and vice president for construction companies. He previously served on the Construction Association of Michigan’s Board of Directors and Labor Negotiating Committee.
With more than 16 years’ experience in corporate finance and business development, Tammie has served as a controller at JJB since 2008. A woman who wears many hats, Tammie glues the organization together with her strategic planning, critical thinking and team building skills. She seamlessly facilitates the banking, insurance and non-organizational accounting responsibilities as well as develops, maintains and analyzes all forms of financial reporting.
Tammie has a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management and a Master’s of Science in General Administration with a concentration in Human Resources from Central Michigan University. Tammie is an active member of the Detroit Area Construction Association, the National Association of Women in Construction and Board Secretary of Abigayle Ministries.
General Superintendent of Michigan
As General Superintendent, Kelly brings 35 years' experience in the construction industry, managing a wide variety of projects. He manages and understands the day-to-day operations of all job sites. HIs leadership and working knowledge of the various construction methods allow JJB to complete jobs in a way that enables crews to be more productive, thus saving time and money.
Overseeing all field operations, Kelly coordinates and supervises the construction process from the conceptual development stage through final construction.
